One of the channels... it might have been PBS Nature... did an entire program on how pythons are overrunning south Florida. It's some pretty scary stuff.
Yeah, this is a HUGE problem. Here in Louisiana, we're actually having an iguana problem. People buy them for pets (strange, I know), and when they get too big, or too much trouble they just turn them loose.
But pythons? As much as I am an anti-legislation guy...well, there oughta be a law!
@Andy~I don't like Iguana's either. My son talked me into letting him get him a baby one from the local pet store here a couple of years ago. Pleading of course that he would take care of it. That didn't last long (a couple of weeks tops)~I didn't know those things would hiss at ya. Needless to say I took it back to the pet store and I just GAVE it back. They were glad to take it back because it was such a big demand for them. WHY I don't know to this day.
THAT is not your cute, cuddly little Python... :-)
ReplyDeleteI do believe I'd find someplace else to hunt!
ReplyDeleteSeeing that would quailfy as a true "Aw $---"
moment!
Wonders, how large can a snake's mouth stretch open?

ReplyDeleteThat's it! No more swimming in Florida for me.
